Yeshey Penjor, Project Director, GPP Bhutan
Yeshey Penjor is the Project Director for the Green Public Procurement Project. He is responsible for leading the GPPB Project Implementation in Bhutan in collaboration with the project implementing partners. GPPB office in Thimphu represents the IISD which is administered from Geneva, Switzerland.
He has M.Sc. in Environment Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Bangkok, Thailand.
He began his professional career as a civil engineer in the erstwhile Department of Power in 1987 and moved to National Environment Commission in 1997 on transfer. At NEC in the more than 13 years span, he served in various capacities of Project/Programme Management, Climate Change, Environment Impact Assessment of developmental activities and Waste Management. It is also during his tenure at the NEC that he pursued a Graduate Diploma in the Environment Management and Development from the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra and the Masters Degree. After resigning from the civil service in November 2010, he worked as the Climate Change Policy Specialist in the UNDP Bhutan Country Office. Since July 2012, he pursued his career as an independent Consultant. He joined GPPB in May 2015 as the Senior Project Officer and took over as the Project Director from January 2016.
